About GACJT
Gundjeihmi Aboriginal Corporation Jabiru Town (GACJT) [ICN 9378] holds the new township lease over Jabiru. With the support of the National Indigenous Australians Agency and the Northern Territory government, GACJT now administers sub-leases and licences for the many businesses and government services located in Jabiru. GACJT is an Indigenous corporation whose members are the Mirarr People, the Traditional Owners and Native Title Holders for Jabiru
The existence of GACJT ensures that income from the township lease benefits the Mirrar’s economic and community development. It is incorporated under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (Cth).
It is essential to GACJT that its strategic direction aligns with and allows for the achievement of the aspirations of the traditional owners to protect culture and to ensure that Bininj are in control of their country and the future of Jabiru.
GACJT’s Board consists of four senior Mirarr directors as well as two independent directors. Its membership is comprised of Mirarr traditional Aboriginal owners. The GACJT Board is supported by the CEO who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the corporation.
